I am the Junior high math teacher - grades 5 - 8 and the 5th grade homeroom teacher. I grew up in Chicago southside - not too far from Snows at 61st and Pulaski. I went to elementary school at St. Turibius - no longer exists. High school at Quigley South - no longer exists - now the location of St. Rita high school
I went to Niles college seminary of Loyola University - no longer exists
My favorite Saint is Saint Maximilian Kolbe.
One thing I want OLS students and families to know about me is that I have been married for over 30 years and have been blessed with three grown adult children - 2 boys and 1 girl.
Why OLS? I believe that Catholic education is the formation of the heart and mind. It is a lifelong foundation built on faith, learning, and service, where students are known, challenged, and loved. We prepare students to be productive citizens and future leaders. It has been my home for the last 35 years and I have felt comfortable and cozy.
My teaching style is teacher centered. I like to demonstrate examples at the board and work in a step by step process to get to an answer. I facilitate by observing and supporting students as they learn through the use of prompting questions or strategic interventions. I would like to reaffirm your child’s math skills by practice, daily affirmations, and motivation. Each child should feel capable and have ownership in their learning -by use of participation and using math in everyday life.
